name - Hestia. age - 4 years. gender - female. breed - Saddlebred (well, she looks like it at least). height - 16.2 hands. build details - Hestia has a slightly proportionally small head, a long neck, level back and croup, and a rather narrow barrel. Her legs are long, with large hooves that aid her in walking on snow or sand. She carries her tail a bit high. coat - bright golden sorrel. markings - none. eyes - large, wide-set, deep liquid brown and very expressive. personality - Hestia is feisty and highly energetic so she is almost constantly in action. When in a good mood she is very playful and lively, but she can put up a fierce (if not particularly skilled) fight when angry. She refuses to respect anyone who does nothing to earn it but she can be a hypocrite at times and demand such unearned respect, herself. Although not especially physically or mentally advantaged, she feels rather entitled and is hard for her to tolerate attention being stolen from her; for this reason if she were a herd mare she would have to be the lead mare, and if not she would have to be the favorite of any other stallion. She is much more reasonable and rational when she is alone or the only mare in the herd because she has no one to assert herself over. history - Hestia was born to a lead mare who was rather vain, and quite disdainful of the many other mares in the herd, and Hestia grew up believing that she was born in a higher rank than any of the other foals. She physically and socially bullied the other youngsters, but as she grew she used mental intimidation more and more to protect the power she believed was hers. Soon her mother began to feel afraid that Hestia would replace her as the social queen of the herd and she began to treat her daughter coldly and hostilely. This went on for several months until during the fall of her spring of her second year a handsome bachelor stallion showed up and took Hestia away from the herd, promising that she would be his lead and favorite. However the young mare's self-centered and defensive behavior, which she had learned from her mother, failed to charm the stallion, who soon obtained another, gentler mare and spent more time with her than with Hestia. After several attempts both to put the new mare in her place and to win back the stallion, Hestia decided that he just wasn't worth it and left his harem.
